ABOUT

Hi, and thank you for stopping by.

I started drawing when I was about 10 or 11 years old. Both my mother and her father used to draw, and though I never got to meet my grandfather, it was his photo realistic charcoal drawings of Sophia Loren and Gina Lollobrigida that sparked my curiosity and inspired me to draw as well.
Achieving my Certificate IV in Graphic Design and learning drawing techniques, gave me the confidence to exhibit my work locally in the Blue Mountains.
I was then offered an
opportunity to illustrate the cover and illustrations for "Thir Franthith Thnake"; a book now published by Piggy Trotters, and my first experience doing
 character design.

I also illustrated the cover and illustrations for "Gorinjas"; another children's book, this one by Mark Lancaster, and then the cover and illustrations for Jenolan the Dragon by author Ben.
I worked together with the authors and listened to
what they wanted so I could bring their characters to life (Photos of my work under "Illustrations" tab).

After the challenging but rewarding task of creating characters for different authors, an idea came to me to create my own character... and Poppy the Pygmy Possum was born. "Sweet Dreams" was the first of a series of 3 watercolour illustrations, and the one that won me an award for "Best Subject/ Genre" at the Winmalee Artfest 2016, for which I'm honoured and forever grateful to the judges that chose my work for the award πŸ™
